TG Timer privacy policy

For the TG Timer iOS app · Last updated 10 June 2026

Summary. TG Timer processes audio entirely on your device. No audio, no measurements, and no personal data are transmitted to Whiteforge or any third party. The app contains no analytics, no telemetry, and no advertising SDKs.

1. Introduction

This policy explains how TG Timer handles your data. TG Timer is an iOS application published by Whiteforge Technologies Ltd (“Whiteforge”, “we”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17224707). It receives audio from a piezo contact microphone and processes it on-device to measure the rate, beat error, and amplitude of a mechanical watch movement.

This policy is for the TG Timer app. The whiteforgetech.co.uk website has its own privacy policy.

2. Data Whiteforge receives

None. TG Timer does not transmit audio, measurements, or any other data to Whiteforge. There are no Whiteforge servers in the data path. The app contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking libraries of any kind.

3. Microphone access

TG Timer requests microphone access to receive audio from a piezo contact microphone connected to your iPhone via a USB-C audio adapter. iOS will prompt you to grant or deny this permission the first time you tap Play.

Audio is captured only while a measurement is actively running. It is processed in real time using autocorrelation to extract the tick period, and then discarded — it is never written to disk, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere. Stopping the measurement stops audio capture immediately.

You can revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.

4. What is stored on your device

TG Timer stores the following in iOS UserDefaults (local to your device only):

No audio is ever written to disk. No measurement results are persisted between sessions. Generated PDF reports are created in memory and handed to the iOS share sheet — where they go from there is your choice.

5. Network activity

TG Timer makes no network connections of any kind. It has no server to contact. There are no update checks, no licence checks, and no telemetry pings.

6. Third parties

TG Timer uses no third-party SDKs, no advertising networks, and no analytics services. The only frameworks used are Apple’s own system frameworks (AVFoundation, Accelerate, SwiftUI).

7. Children

TG Timer is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EU, you have rights under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR — including the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint. Because TG Timer does not transmit any data to Whiteforge, these rights are effectively exercised by controlling the app and your device directly. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be summarised at the top of the policy for a reasonable period.
